Countryma's Breakfast
Breakfast For Dinner At Countryman’s
What can be said about this event other then it is one of the most fun things we do during the year. Our hosts are most gracious and the food is unequaled.

Stoneybrook Gets Better Every Year
Stoneybrook Gets Better Every Year
As usual we began our day with a police escort out of the Aberdeen Park. After arriving at the horse park we circled the cars and set up our tent to house the goodies that the members provide. Again, as usual, the food was scrumptious and plentiful. Before each race the bets were placed with your editor and the excitement began.
Rooting for your horse to win is part of the experience. Roy and Kathie Mirabella were the good Samaritans of the day, rescuing the Sayers with a battery problem on the way to Stoneybrook and Bronks with broken fan belt on the way home.
March - April 2013 update
by John & CJ Sayre and Audrey & Charlie BronkThe Sandhills Chapter has mainly had our precious classics safely stowed away during the last several months with no smog controls just spewed smog. I had to reassure them that was not the case.
Club cars or AACA Chapter cars are kept at the peak of performance. Our babies are always clean and always tuned to run at the maximum of effi ciency which drastically reduces their carbon footprint. The real problem rests with drivers that just add gas with no attention to their cars except for basic transportation. Why do I bring this up now? Mainly because this is the time to de-winterize our pride and joys. Lets all take that little extra effort to make sure our children have not only the classic cars to enjoy, but a beautiful world to drive them in.
What has the Sandhills Chapter been doing while Mother Nature has been raging? We have been hard at work with the 2013 Schedule of Events. It looks like this may be one of our most productive and exciting years. Not only are the regular events (the parades, Stoney Brook Steeple Chase, the car shows along with our annual car show) in the plan, but several museum trips, an extended poker run and festivals. And can you believe this a Concourse d’Elegance at Pinehurst Country Club year? The increased events schedule might just be a factor of our Chapter board not being subject to term limits this year. Our fabulous board has remained the same. As always, GREAT JOB!
Plan to come to Pinehurst for the Concourse d’Elegance During May 2-5 this year! We’ll “leave the lights on” for you.
It is with great sadness to say that the Sandhills Chapter has lost two of our esteemed members. Isabel Parish and Edward Thigpen have both left us. Isabel was the epitomy of Southern charm, always gracious sitting in the passenger seat of Havner’s E Jaguar. Edward will be missed driving that old Chevy 2 door Delux around. They both will be fondly remembered. mainly due to this cold, rainy, weird winter weather. I know it is not politically correct (PC) to say those ugly words like “global warming”, but it is either that or Mother Nature has just gone off her rocker. I did have an instance when I was talking with a friend where they told me my classic was a major part of the pollution problem. My Vette being an older car

I would like to dedicate this article to all the members of the Sandhills Chapter of the AACA. You see, yesterday was what could be called a day with the cars. In the morning the Chapter had the Southern Pines Christmas parade. This parade is what my wife says is “the highlight of the year”. Every Christmas that passes the parade gets better and better. This year I did not realize that Southern Pines had so many people!
The smiles, the good humor, and the pure delight seen on everyone’s face seemed to be infectious. The rest of the world seemed to be so far away, and for a short time the true Spirit of Christmas, that feeling of brotherly love was felt by all.
In the evening, the Chapter had its annual Christmas dinner at Fairwoods on 7. Again it was a superb night. The comradely before dinner was great.
The dinner itself was scrumptious as always, and the quartet serenading the members during coffee was again beyond compare. It was after all this luxurious living and during the Chapter meeting that I realized how, very special our Chapter members really are. Our, president John Deuster, went through a tally of what the chapter had done this past year. When you think of the time, organization and dedication these people accomplished to host and sponsor all the different events the Chapter completed, the mind boggles.
