March - April 2013 update

Time seems to fly by the older I get. When this edition arrives our members will be getting ready to support the fi rst AACA show of the season hosted by the Cape Fear Chapter. Then it is only a few weeks away from Spring, quickly followed by Easter. As promised in the last newsletter, I would like to relay a little of what happened in December.
Backing –up… One of my favorite things our chapter does is put together a festive Christmas party. For the past two years, the party has been held in the Mezias family’s four-bay garage The Mezias family has named ‘it’ the Garage-Ma-Hall. Happy New Year! However, before we move on I need to do some catching –up on last year’s events.
First, I would like to welcome new members Jennifer and Harold Lee, Jo and Ed Brown, and Lillie and Stan Jackson.
The fall and winter of 2012 found our members busy supporting and enjoying the old car hobby. Members Tappy Taylor, Kenny and Barb Walters, Stick and Shirley Cox and Ed and Patsy Penuel participated in the “Shades of the Past’. This must be a great show because it is a long drive to Pigeon Ford, Tennessee from Jacksonville, NC. Debbie and Gordon Evans have been very busy. They displayed their corvettes in the Vietnam Veterans and the Shrimp Festival shows.

Who are we?
New River Chapter AACA is one of seventeen chapters that comprise the North Carolina Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America. The Chapter has approximately 25 members who are interested in the preservation and enjoyment of automobiles as they were when delivered to the dealer by the manufacturer.
Chapter Activities
In addition to monthly business meetings, there are a variety of activities that the members participate in.
These include:
New River Chapter AACA Car Show held on the first saturday of October of each year
Other North Carolina Region chapter shows
National meets
Driving tours
Parades
Jacksonville is the home to U.S. Marine Corps' Second Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejuene and New River Air Station. .
Membership
Membership applications for the AACA, the NC Region and the New River Chapter are attached. Membership in both the regional and national organizations is required. The dues include the bi-monthly magazine published by the AACA and the bi-monthly newsletter of the NC Region. We are proud to welcome members from the USMC both active and retired to our Club activities.

Meeting Directions
Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. they rotate between several locations in Jacksonville to include members homes. Please check our facebook page to see were we will be having our next meeting.
