The summer show season is busy for all AACA members and General Greene is no exception. Attending and helping nearby chapters, to which many of our members belong, is all a part of the fun of the hobby. As we move rapidly along through the summer months, we have our own show to plan, of course. We invite our AACA friends to join us at the Greensboro Farmers Market on Saturday, August 4 for this annual event. There are always beautiful cars and friends, old and new, to share the day. Additionally, the market offers a nice venue for NC agricultural products and ABC Seed has a great store on the site. We hope you will join us for a great time and some great classics.

Our General Greene Chapter AACA in cooperation with Guilford County Schools Middle College and Guilford Technical Community College is sponsoring a “Planting Seeds Workshop” on Automotive Restoration and Preservation. This workshop is taught by one of our own, Ralph Proscia. It is held evenings once a month, January thru May. This program allows high school (middle college students) with automotive interests to travel to the GTCC Jamestown NC campus for class instruction. Instruction includes bringing an unrestored antique vehicle into a shop setting and through various instructional methods, students learn the process of transforming this antique into a “top of the line” A ACA vehicle. Ralph said, “it can be a challenge due to student backgrounds, interests and abilities”.
We are also excited about a special tour that chapter member, John Burton, has organized for the club. On the morning of April 2nd, we will all travel from Greensboro to the Virginia state line, near Ridgeway, have breakfast at Clarence’s Restaurant then travel ten miles back into North Carolina to visit the home of Mr. Harlowe Bowling. Mr. Bowling has a unique collection of several hundred pristine antique cars and trucks displayed in a beautiful designed and lighted warehouse. We are expecting at least one other chapter to join us for this tour.
As always, we look forward to our annual BBQ picnic in July at which time we drive our antique cars and enjoy fellowship for the day.
