Chester was a charter member of our club founded in 1972. He willingly gave of his time and talent over the years whenever the need arose. Chester could always be found helping behind the scenes to make any event successful, whether it was a cookout, car show, parade, or even guarding a car display all night. He was always willing to jump in and help without being asked or assigned a task. Chester was a true volunteer but not an officer or committee member.
Chester enjoyed all automobiles, but he especially enjoyed the hobby of collecting and preserving antiques autos. He was active in the AACA at the region and national levels as well as the local level. Chester knew most everyone, and most knew him. His character and personality always added to every event that he attended. His experience and resources was a valuable asset to the club.
A plaque is presented annually at the Cape Fear Chapter spring car show to a member that is in good standing and has given of their talent, resources and spirit throughout the year to help promote the chapter, the AACA, and the hobby of antique cars at the local, regional, and national levels of involvement.
Chester’s zeal for life and love of cars will be greatly missed. We hope this award brings honor and warm reflections of his contributions to the Cape Fear Chapter of the AACA.
